Who the Hell Ate the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge? (2021)
SYNOPSIS
A self-existent and omnipotent entity, God, one day decides out of boredom to create light, and others to go with it. Feeling a lack of something, God completes his creation by creating a human being in his resemblance. Adam and Eve thus become the first ever human beings, capable of doing anything but one - to drink 'snake wine'. The snake trapped in the liquor bottle had once stolen and eaten a legendary fruit of good and evil, a prized possession of God. Cursed by a rageful God, the snake fell captive in the liquor bottle for 144,000 years.
Curious and adventurous by nature, Eve becomes curious of the forbidden snake wine as soon as she hears about it. However, her reckless curiosity deeply concerns Adam, and they argue about what to do with the bottle. In their simple but ongoing dispute, it is possible to get a glimpse into their chronic conflicts. After the argument and to Adam's horror, Eve eventually decides to open the bottle of snake wine. As Eve bravely opens the lid of the bottle, the eyes of the snake open, and a conversation between Eve and the 144,000-year old snake begins. Impressed by the snake's wisdom and logic, Eve decides to have just one drink of the wine.
The Court of God opens as Eve drinks from the bottle, and a long history of secrets is unraveled. Who the hell ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge? A history of secrets kept for over 144,000 years, the sealed truth, and a fascinating revenge story begins.
CONCEPT
Next to the almighty creator were the first humans - Adam, and the first ever "evil woman", Eve. How did Eve fall to the temptation of the snake and end up becoming the entity of evil to corrupt the human race? Did Adam and Eve truly love each other? How did the fruit of knowledge, distinguishing between good and evil, become 'bad'? How did the supposedly almighty God fail from his first creation?
This play rewrites the stories of a woman, trapped in the stigma of evil for thousands of years and counting, aiming to save the tarnished pieces of history. It is set in the beginning of time, at the Garden of Eden, written around the theme of creation, downfall, and redemption with little respect for the original; the genre is revenge.
